General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn Confesses, ‘I Was Falling Madly in Love’ With On-Screen Leading Man

It wasn’t just Santa Barbara viewers who were swept away by the romance of Nancy Lee Grahn’s Julia Wainwright and Lane Davies’ Mason Capwell in the 1980s. Turns out, the Emmy winner herself got caught up in it, too — more than was advisable.

“I was falling madly — and I stress madly — in love with Lane,” she admits to Soap Opera Digest. “I walked right into the danger-zone trap of intensely working 18 hours a day for years with a brilliantly and vividly written love story [for the characters] and not being able to decipher fantasy from what was real.

“Had I known myself better at the time, I might have dodged pitfalls,” she adds, “but I didn’t and instead grew from them.”

Following Davies’ departure from the much-missed NBC soap in 1989, Grahn was paired with one new Mason (Dynasty vet Gordon Thomson) after another (Young & Restless’ original Jack Abbott, Terry Lester). Half a dozen years after General Hospital cast her as the very Julia-like Alexis Wainwright, Davies passed through Port Charles himself as Zander Smith’s dad, Cameron Lewis.

Alas, lightning didn’t strike twice — it is notoriously as tricky to catch on screen as it is in a bottle — and the character for whom Liz’s son Cameron is named was killed off in 2004.

General Hospital Update: Thursday, October 12 – Dex’s Disturbing News – Willow’s Eerie Warning – Cyrus’ Threat Works

General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for Thursday, October 12, reveals that Ava Jerome (Maura West) will be trapped with no way out. GH fans will see Ava pleading for help while she’s held hostage somewhere after Mason Gatlin’s (Nathanyael Grey) recent abduction.

However, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) may realize Ava wouldn’t abandon Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) when she’s feeling ill.

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) mentioned that Avery couldn’t make the wedding due to some stomach issues and that she was with the nanny, but Ava wouldn’t be unreachable by choice.

The longer Ava’s gone without a good explanation, the more concerned Josslyn will get.

Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) may think Josslyn’s worried for nothing at first, but she’ll feel like something’s wrong and will be determined to get the truth.

Ava may not be Josslyn’s favorite person, but she’s warmed up to Ava a bit lately since she knows how much Avery and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) adore her.

Josslyn will recruit Dex to help her with the search for Ava info, so that’ll lead to them joining forces with Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and his unparalleled skills soon enough.

Next, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) will thank Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) for coming, but Austin will talk about what’s on the line and realize he’s backed into a corner.

Austin will be all dressed up like he’s about to do something important – like maybe vouch for Cyrus when it comes to his parole and push for his early chance at freedom.

As for captive Ava, Cyrus will have to form a plan to deal with her eventually.

Mason didn’t permanently eliminate Ava like he was supposed to, so Austin might get blackmailed into taking over his cousin’s grisly duties.

Regardless, Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) didn’t want Ava hurt and was adamant about that, so Mason clearly decided to obey his orders over Cyrus’ – and that’s bound to be a problem!

We should also mention that Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) will accept a new case on Thursday’s GH episode.

Scott is sometimes a defender of lowlifes, so it’s possible he’ll wind up becoming Cyrus’ attorney.

In Puerto Rico, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) will wake up following a disturbing nightmare, so that should be about Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) and her insistence that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is untrustworthy.

As for Sonny, he’ll once again voice his gratitude to Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) since he’ll be thrilled to have his son there for his wedding – and he’ll know Nina is ecstatic over Willow’s presence, too.

Michael will feel like they’ll all be better off if they put their past issues to rest and look to the future, but that could prove difficult soon enough.

GH fans know Michael has an SEC contact who’s trying to get the name of the person who turned in Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).

Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) assured Nina that no one would know about her anonymous tip, but can he really be certain of that?

Even if Michael just learns about Martin’s involvement, it shouldn’t be too hard to dig deeper and connect the dots when it comes to Nina and her lawyer.

Michael’s indeed going to get a shocking call while he’s on the island later this week, but there’ll be more wedding prep in the meantime.

Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) will end up mentioning Nina’s mom to her and will apparently wonder why she isn’t at the nuptials.

That could lead to Nina thinking back to some painful memories when it comes to Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills), but she’ll hope that her own relationship with Willow will be happier and healthier.

Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) will also voice her approval about this wedding since she’ll see that Sonny’s over the moon.

Sonny clearly loves Nina, so Kristina will be glad that his wife-to-be brings him so much bliss.

General Hospital spoilers say Nina and Sonny’s marriage ceremony is rapidly approaching, so stay tuned for updates on all the stunning news and exciting moments ahead.
