Kathleen Gati Teases Her Return to GENERAL HOSPITAL!

It’s been several months since GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Liesl Obrecht dumped Scotty, donated her bone marrow to Willow… and disappeared! But it sounds like our favorite physician, played by Kathleen Gati, may soon be back on the canvas!

The social-media-savvy actress often interacts with her followers on X, and that’s where she recently teased that a Port Charles return may very well be in her future! The casting tidbit first came on Sept. 12 when a GH fan shared Dictionary.com’s explanation of the German word schadenfreude as “satisfaction or pleasure felt at someone else’s misfortune.” As the soap watcher commented, GH fans learned the word “from our beloved Dr. O. We need to see Kathleen Gati on screen soon! We miss her!”

Having been tagged in the comment, Gati replied that schadenfreude is indeed a “wonderful word” and thanked her fans for missing her. “Stay tuned!” she added. “You never know when Liesl Obrecht may show up on GH!”

That comment was somewhat typical of a recurring player who appears on a soap opera when dictated by storyline. But something Gati wrote two days later proved to be much more interesting. This time, when another follower asked the actress if viewers could expect to see her soon, Gati’s reply seemed to hold a bit more weight. “It’s a very good possibility!” she replied, adding a winking tongue-out emoji.

GH Obrecht Scott

Obrecht was a major part of the soap’s Greenland storyline this past spring when the doctor was kidnapped by Victor and forced to work on the antidote for the deadly pathogen he planned on releasing. Since Obrecht was snatched from the Nurses Ball the night before she was supposed to donate her bone marrow to great-niece Willow, rescuing Nina’s Aunt Liesl (along with Spencer, Trina, and baby Ace) was one of the focal points of Curtis, Drew, and Laura’s rescue mission.

Fans of the soap frequently tell Gati over the social media platform that she is much missed and often ask her if she’ll be coming back to the show. Back in June, the actress admitted that she had “no idea if and when I will be back on canvas,” adding that “life is full of surprises!”

We hope that Gati’s response means that there will be a family reunion ahead for Nina, Willow, and Liesl because there’s absolutely zero schadenfreude in her absence!
