General Hospital Spoilers: John J. York, Shares “Hiatus” Health Update, Needs A Blood Stem Cell Transplant Match

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that John J. York (Mac Scorpio) will be missing for a few months on the show. Fans were a tad disappointed a few days ago when revealed he was taking a “brief” hiatus from the show on X.

He promised he’d be updating viewers soon on the reason why, and he shared a video on X Wednesday night, explaining his health condition and providing a call to action for a blood stem cell transplant match.

In the video tweeted on X, York notes that the reason behind his hiatus from GH was because he was diagnosed with two blood and bone marrow disorders, Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and multiple smoldering myeloma.

He notes over the past months he’s had three bone marrow biopsies, many chemo treatments, and closing in on a blood stem cell transplant.

He states he’s been working with many “wonderful” people at BeTheMatch.org trying to find potential a donor from their registry.

After he talked about his condition, he placed a request for fans and followers to think about joining Be The Match, not just to be a potential match for him, but for the “thousands upon thousands” of people currently in need on the registry.

He directs fans to head to www.BeTheMatch.org/MatchForMac, for more information on how they can either join the registry or make a financial contribution.

John ends the video by thanking the fans for their support over the years and makes it clear that this isn’t “goodbye”, it is just “so long”.

 

He states he should be back in the land of Port Charles within three to four months’ time. He paraphrases Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator movie by saying, “I’ll be back”, and once again thanks the fans for their support, well wishes, and prayers. He closes the video off by saying that he’ll update fans, as soon as he can.
